Under one roof

I always when to casual market at Taiping for foods when I was at secondary school. The foods selling here is cheap (at that time) and quite delicous as well. After the tuition class, I always have some foods at here with my friends. I love the Mee Rebus stall which I couldn’t find it for this visit.

This casual market is located at the town center. Perhaps you will ask me what’s so special about this casual market… Hehe… Let me show you something which you hardly find in Kuala Lumpur. If you have noticed, the casual market at KL you rarely can see the Halal foods and non-Halal foods selling under one roof… I never noticed it until some of my colleagues told me that. Even the casual market is previously ran by non-Halal stalls, and took over by a Halal food stall, then the muslim will not so keen to visit there if they know about it.

So, you can see the photos at here:

That day I was so wanted to eat Laksa. Unfortunately, all Chinese Laksa stalls were closed! So, I just visit this one~ My hand is trying to cover my pimples…

My blogging voyage
icon1 admin | icon2 blog | icon4 10 22nd, 2007| icon311 Comments »

In case you don’t know, I have joined the blogging venture since four years ago. At that time, I never thought about to get anything from blogging. I also have no idea on how to attract readers at that time. Here are the blogging that I used to write before:

Blogspot: This is the first blog that I had before. At that time, it is still not under Google. I only maintained it for few months, then stop to write at there. This is because my friend is using another platform. So, for the reason of ‘consistency’, I have make my decision to dump this blog, which makes me feel regret to do so.

freshwired.jpg

Freshwired: I followed Keone to shift my blog to this platform. Freshwired is the most stupid blogging platform that I ever seen. I bet most of you never heard about this platform as it is hosted at China. I wrote my blog in Mandarin at that time, mind you, my Mandarin is much better than English. I used to write few Chinese articles which I like so much. However, I still don’t know about SEO (Now still dunno so much…) or any kind of blogging tips, so, it is a very low traffic’s blog. Besides, I never remembered my blog’s URL because it is too long to be remembered. Anyway, I have dumped that blog because of its stupid-ness.

seanlelxanga.jpg

Seanlel’s Xanga: At this time, I started to know about “blogging for money”. This is after the recommendation from cbenc12. So, I starting to blog in English, and trying to provide some informative content. I also started to join some community like MyBlogLog to increase my traffics. I also learn about “link exchange” to increase my technorati ranking. I have understood about the important of PR. I started to put some widget doodad on my blog. I started to read JohnChow’s blogging tips. I considered myself is infatuated with blogging at that moment.

LifelongSharing: After I succeed to generate some money from MyXanga, I make another new move to register my own domain. Since my earning is not that much, I only can afford an economic hosting plan, and shared it with KeeYit as well. I noticed I put even more effort when I have my own domain. I started to write something which would attract people’s attention. I started to buy a digital camera for blogging. I started to be sensitive about thing around me, and hope it would be a topic to blog about. Oh my God, I am sick with my blog!

Future: Since my hosting plan allows us to host up to five domain names and domain name is quite cheap as well, so I’ve decided to create another new domain. I already have idea about the domain name, but I haven’t registered yet.

So, what about your blogging experience?

For cheap web hosting, you’ll find many websites. But the best of them are limited for example midphase web hosting. This company provides cheap webhosting with a free domain name. The hostgator hosting company provides a free domain name with unlimited email. Of all companies, startlogic has the highest featured plans. This site has the most variety of webhosting net services on the net. For the wireless internet users, there are special rates and plans designed just for them. A wireless internet service can also give you great web hosting packages. For example rogers wireless has the best wireless hosting services.

Tesco Taiping~!
icon1 admin | icon2 blog, Life | icon4 10 20th, 2007| icon33 Comments »

It was the first time I went to Tesco Taiping. I was told that it is the 2nd biggest Tesco in Malaysia; it really makes me so surprise.
In fact, it is a very big Tesco. Since it is not located at the town center, I was wondering whether people will drive to there. When I reached, I found that there are so many people! The crowd is just like what you can see at KL~! I was told that the Giant Hypermarket is going to launch on 1st November 2007 at the same area as well. I believe there must be a development plan in Taiping town.

Yeah, you can see the big welcome message at the main entrance~!

Do you know anything about loan? When I was kid, I had a bad impression about loan. Perhaps I was influenced by the newspaper and drama series about the shark loan, which always force people to pay very high interests. Sometime, they will kill the people who are unable to pay the loan.
Now, I have more knowledge about loan. As long as you loan the money from the legal firm and you paid the repayment on time, then it would be a great deal! Personally, I have a car loan to pay. This is because I need a car at that time, but I don’t have sufficient cash to buy it. Then, taking a car loan is a smart choice for me!
There are several kinds of loans available in the market. For instants, Homeowner loans is for those who want to own a house, unsecured loans is suitable for someone who need cash in their personal stuffs like wedding. Besides, don’t forget to choose a cheap loans to save more~!
I believed you have known about loans after the explanation. So, which type of loan is suitable for you?

Feel guilty to say NO?
icon1 admin | icon2 Life | icon4 10 17th, 2007| icon39 Comments »

Perhaps the culture had cultivate us not to reject or say no upon people's request, so, no matter we happy or not, we will always say YES as the standard answer.

I heard several cases from people around me, they felt guilty to say NO when people request something they really don't like to do:

Case 1: My nephew

One day, he told me that his friend A, want to borrow money from friend B. Nephew told me that friend A has a bad reputation as he like gambling. Nephew used to lend him RM200 because he didn't know friend A always lying. After that, friend A always finding excuses not to paying back the money. Mind you, my nephew still studying at a local university, and he is not so loaded.

Now, friend A wanna borrow RM1000 from friend B, saying wanna repair his car (apparently, he needs money to pay off his gambling debts). So, my nephew was helping friend B to find some excuses not to lend money to friend B. Do you think this is necesary? Why can't we just say NO directly? Do you think a person like friend A worth to be your friend?

Case 2: My Chubby-boy

Recently, Chubby-boy dad's friend's friend friend's aunt's mother-in-law's daugther's son's wife's father's sibling (a.k.a not-so-friend-one) request to balik kampung (go back to hometown) together during festive session. Mind you again, the not-so-friend-one family is doing some business which can't exposed under the sun (I hope you would understand).

Chubby-boy really don't want to ride with three them, because afraid of some unnecessary troublesome. Now you know how important is the reputation. I totally agreed with Chubby-boy. However, Chubby-boy don't know how to reject them. He keep telling me about the excuses to reject them. What I told him is, "Simply a word, NO".

I would say NO

I am shameless to say NO if some requests which I felt uncomfortable or I think you can make it by your own. I think my housemate would understand about it. For instants, KeeYit asked me to download a file for her, because it is filed in RAR format. She is unable to extract the file because she didn't have the installer. She wants me to download, then unzip then send over MSN to her. I say NO. Because I recommended her to install WinRar in solving this problem, she hesitate, then rejected my suggestion. Now you see, IF you even say NO to your own business, how could you expect people say YES to you?! Am I being so cruel to her? muhahhahaha~~!!!Cool

I know all of these are the small matters which keep happen in our daily life. But the small matter enough to see a person's personality. I say NO it means NO, I say YES it means YES. Simple thing, but it has been complicated by our social community. What do you think? YES? NO?

Last week, I attended an interview at a private local university (ABC). It is a well known university which I won’t disclosed the name. I am applying an academic post at there.

The interview panel consists of six people, they asked me questions alternately. Most of the time, they were talking crap. But I want to share an issue which I felt uncomfortable. First at all, I am applying for the academic post, they told me, academic only means 40% in your job scope, 60% you need to take care of the other things (e.g. Marketing, business, etc).

One of my lecturers at UM used to talk about University topics with us. He said, university is different with college, because at university, lecturer involved 60% in research, and 40% in teaching. It is totally acceptable because all add up together is 100% academic. But ABC only allocated 40% of the totall workload to their academic staffs, and need them to do research and teaching as well. At the other words, the academic staffs only have 40% (max) to give to their students only, the 60% is doing nothing related with the academic.

As a student, do you it is fair to you for paying so much money but not getting the full attention? I can accept the UM’s case because the research doing by the staffs will bring the beneficial to the students eventually. This is because the new knowledge thru the research can be taught to the students.

I didn’t object their idea directly, but I have implied that I didn’t agree with what he said. I voice out quite many things that might be opposed with their ‘business’ nature. I don’t expect they will call me again, anyway… haha!
